Prague’s airport is compact and easy to navigate, but if it’s your first time here, it’s useful to know your transport options. This guide explains how to get from the airport to the city center and back, with simple tips for luggage and timing.
• 1. Where is Prague Airport?
Václav Havel Airport Prague (PRG) is 15–17 km west of the city center. Usual travel times:
- → 🚍 Bus + metro: 30–45 min
- → 🚌 Airport Express: 35–45 min
- → 🚐 Taxi / Uber / Bolt: 30–40 min
• 2. Bus 119 + Metro A (cheapest option)
- → Bus 119 → Nádraží Veleslavín
- → Metro A → city center
Cheap, reliable, frequent — less ideal with heavy luggage.
• 3. Airport Express (AE)
The direct route to Main Train Station (Hlavní nádraží).
• 4. Other public buses
Bus 100 → Zličín is useful if staying in the west part of Prague.
• 5. Taxi, Uber, Bolt, Liftago
- → ✔ Best with many bags
- → ✔ Door-to-door
- → ✘ More expensive at peak times
• 6. How to choose your option
- → Budget / light luggage: Bus 119 + metro
- → Main Station area: Airport Express
- → Kids or many bags: Taxi / Uber
- → No return for luggage: Combine public transport with luggage service

Use Prague integrated tickets. Validate in yellow machines when entering bus or metro.
• 8. Tips for luggage travel
- → Stay close to the door area on buses
- → Protect valuables in crowds
- → Avoid rush hour with big suitcases
- → Plan routes with few transfers
• 9. Returning to the airport
- → Metro A → Veleslavín → Bus 119
- → Main Station → Airport Express
- → Taxi/Uber directly to terminal
